Santo Domingo.– The new return against the Ministry of Defense on 27 de Febrero Avenue was opened today unexpectedly, without coordination or prior notice from the contracting company, reported the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC).
In an attempt to demonstrate speed and efficiency, the contracting company carried out the work without the required coordination or prior communication, failing to comply with the protocols established for this type of road interventions.
The institution clarified that the opening was originally scheduled for weekendwhen traffic is less and users could become familiar with the use of the new return.
The early activation generated potential traffic inconveniences, especially for drivers and pedestrians who were not prepared for the new circulation.
Public Works indicated that the corresponding actions have already been initiated to review the situation and ensure that the remaining phases of the project are developed in compliance with all technical and institutional communication procedures, in coordination with the competent authorities.
The ministry apologized to the public for the inconvenience caused and reaffirmed its commitment to road safety, order and public interest during the execution of the works around the Plaza de la Bandera.
