Liberal senator Fernando Silva Facetti pointed out that the informality in trade, marked by massive smuggling, makes many people today opt for the acquisition of products that enter the country illegally.
“Today it is more attractive to make contraband purchases than from supermarkets (between 40 and 60% less), because VAT cannot be deducted from these purchases. We have to encourage formalization and combat illicit businesses such as smuggling, ”Silvia Facetti shot on his Twitter account.
He himself argued that in this framework, the law of deductibility of supermarket purchases is urgent, in order to normalize the economy.
“The deductibility project for purchases in supermarkets arises from the lack of results from the government in combating smuggling. I believe that VAT deductibility in supermarkets will encourage the formalization of the economy,” said the parliamentarian.
Silva Facetti stated that the entry of contraband products into the country represents a huge drain on the fiscal coffers. And how unfortunate it turns out that illegal trade is endorsed even by authorities that should be a safeguard to prevent smuggling.
“The images from the closed circuit of the massive influx of contraband trucks with the complicity of the Navy are still fresh. There have been no sanctions or those responsible for similar acts”, he concluded.
