With significant investment CAMCEL incorporated new services and technology
The announcement was made this Wednesday within the framework of a press conference that took place in the Session Room of the Cerro Largo Medical Cooperative.
Both the services that are incorporated and the state-of-the-art equipment that was acquired after a significant investment benefit not only the users of the private provider, but the entire population of the department.
“CAMCEL has a vision that is to be the leading institution in the department in the continuous improvement of services, in acquiring technology to assist our users. It is within this framework that we announce the acquisition of some equipment that allows us to perform certain techniques that we could not do before here in the department, having to transfer those patients to Montevideo or even to Treinta y Tres” expressed the Dr. Felipe Ricagni.
With these additions, users throughout Cerro Largo will be able to perform treatments or techniques that were not previously done in the department.
“Being very clear about the mission and vision of CAMCEL, we have worked this second half of the year and are able to make these announcements today” stated the President of the institution.
“We are talking about an investment close to USD 300,000” revealed. “This year we were even able to invest a little more than we had thought at the beginning of the year because this is a non-profit entity. What we can obtain from some resource is to reinvest within the same institution” Ricagni specified.
BIPOLAR ELECTRO SCALPEL AND LAPAROSCOPIC SURGERY TOWER
“Two very important pieces of equipment have been incorporated into the Surgical Block: the first is a bipolar electro-scalpel, which although we already had it, we now have a new technology that incorporates many more features and allows us to perform new procedures, procedures that were not done here in our environment” announced the Dr. Pablo Rodríguez.
“We also incorporated a new Laparoscopic Surgery Tower” he added. “Laparoscopic Surgery in recent years has had a very important development at the level of all surgical specialties” said the Head of the CAMCEL Surgical Block.
A NEW ENDOSCOPY TOWER
“We have incorporated a new Endoscopy Tower into the service. It is a Fuji 600 equipment that allows us to see the lesions with better definition” commented the Dr. Claudia Méndez.
“It is one of the first pieces of equipment that was purchased this year. This allows us to make more specific diagnoses. During the course of the year, the Electro Scalpel was also acquired, which allows us to do a lot of therapeutic procedures in Melo, in CAMCEL” he remarked. “Before, these patients were transferred to resolve these pathologies in Montevideo” recalled the Head of Digestive Endoscopy of Gastroenterology.
“Everything will now be able to be done at CAMCEL, in the Digestive Endoscopy Service because, in addition, we not only have the technology, but we have the technicians trained for that” stood out.
OCT EQUIPMENT WAS ACQUIRED
“The CAMCEL Ophthalmology Service has had the OCT Team since June, a team that allows for the diagnosis and monitoring of macular pathologies, whether age-related macular degeneration, diabetic macular edema, macular edema due to thrombosis and, above all, follow-up when antianphlogenic injections have to be performed.” explained the Dr. Adriana Passano.
“It is a study that the patient sometimes has to perform two or three times a year. Now CAMCEL already has the equipment” highlighted the Head of Ophthalmology.
For a few months now, all this service has been provided in the old UNEM building, with larger and more appropriate spaces for the attention of users.
Dr. Passano announced that modern laser equipment is about to arrive that allows various types of interventions to be performed. “It is more than an advantage to have this equipment and centrally in a Polyclinic where all the procedures are carried out” he emphasized.
