Positive news for Colombia in the first half of 2022 in terms of exports to the United States, the country’s main trading partner.

Relations between Colombia and the United States show a good path in exports during the first half of this year, with an increase of 40.8% according to DANE, that means US$7,314 million in sales.
There was an increase compared to the previous year in the same period, when sales reached US$5,194.
Maria Claudia Lacouture, President of AmCham Colombia, points out that “it is important to promote policies that take advantage of the trade agreement that continue to promote bilateral exchange.”
He also stressed that, “the greater use of the opportunities that persist in multiple sectors, since the United States is our main trading partner.”
The mining-energy sector also had an increase of 66.1% with sales of US$3,471 compared to the previous year.
In 2021 sales of export they were $2,089. This figure still does not exceed sales before the pandemic when the registered value was US$3,775 million.
Lacouture concluded: «The result of exports from the United States, for the first half of this year, has a significant rebound effect of 40.8% due to the fact that in May and June of last year bilateral trade was paralyzed due to the blockades in highways that impeded the normal flow of goods within the country and towards Buenaventura.
Coffee without roasting or decaffeinating was one of the best-selling coffees, for a total of US$869.4 million, an increase of 58% compared to 2021.
Other wines that sold the most:
- Fresh cut roses US$299.7 million, and cut flowers for decorations US$161.3 million.
