For four days, the climate in the region has caused the air not to circulate easily. This, together with intense solar radiation, has allowed ozone to accumulate at high levels. Therefore, the authorities estimate that during the afternoon the air quality will remain bad or very bad.
Recommendations for the population
The population is reminded of being informed about air quality, and attending to health recommendations to avoid exposing themselves to pollution spikes between 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., especially for infants, older adults, pregnant women and people with respiratory and cardiovascular diseases.
• Avoid doing civic, cultural and recreational activities, as well as avoiding outdoors between 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
• Suspend any outdoor activity, organized by public or private institutions, at a time between 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
• Postpone outdoor, sports, cultural or mass shows, scheduled between 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
• It is recommended not to smoke, especially in closed spaces.
