Contempt request against PRD deputy Cenobia Vargas was admitted by the Supreme Court

The Supreme Court of Justice admitted the Incident of Contempt presented by the independent candidate for President Eduardo Quirós, through official notification dated July 3, 2023.

Eduardo Quirós requested the declaration of contempt of the PRD deputy Cenobia Vargas for not having complied with the Court’s order to deliver the minutes of the session in which the president of the Budget Commission of the National Assembly was elected for the period 2022 -2023.

On June 22, Quirós, in the company of the independent deputy Juan Diego Vásquez, received a copy of act No. 1 dated July 27, 2022, which from its simple and sequential reading makes it clear that the election of the president of the Commission was not carried out. of Budget in said session.

With the admission of the Incident of Contempt, once notified, Deputy Vargas has a term of three (3) days to respond to the Supreme Court based on Article 704 of the Judicial Code.

The request for contempt includes a request to be fined a minimum of double the monthly salary earned by Deputy Vargas and, if the act is not delivered, an Exhibitive Action or Visual Inspection be ordered to the Budget Commission of the National Assembly.

“Deputies cannot continue to act with their backs to the country, mocking the rules and hiding their violations of the Law. No one is above the Law.” Eduardo Quirós pointed out.
