Consumers will be able to negotiate overdue debts in a national effort

The Brazilian Federation of Banks (Febraban), in partnership with the Central Bank, the National Consumer Secretariat (Senacon) and the Procons throughout the country, promotes the National Task Force for Debt Negotiation and Financial Guidance, starting on Monday (7) until March 31, when consumers will be able to negotiate their debts with banks.Consumers will be able to negotiate overdue debts in a national effort

The initiative will allow individuals with overdue debts, in financial institutions, to have the opportunity to pay off their debts and also have access to content on financial education.

According to Febraban, the campaign’s target is individuals who do not have assets given as collateral; that are in arrears and on behalf of a natural person; and that the debts have been contracted with banks or finance companies.

“The national task force is a joint action that not only contributes to the rebalancing of the budget of families, but, mainly, promotes financial education, which is essential for the consumer to be able to avoid risk indebtedness, to have more information about banking products and services. and improve your financial health,” said Isaac Sidney, president of Febraban, in a statement.

A page of the task force (mutirao.febraban.org.br) was developed for prior negotiation preparation, with the objective of promoting financial guidance to the consumer until the submission of negotiation proposals on the conflict mediation platform ConsumerGovBra system created by Senacon that counts on the adhesion of more than 160 financial institutions.

On the task force page, consumers also find tools that allow, for example, to consult their debts, such as the Central Bank system (https://registrato.bcb.gov.br/registrato/login/) through which you can access the Loan and Financing Report (SCR).

To join the task force, the consumer can choose to negotiate with the creditor institution within the ConsumidorGovBr platform (consumidor.gov.br), or directly with the banks’ digital negotiation channels. The bank has ten days to review the request and submit a proposal.
