Consumer loans grew 21.1% year-on-year in January

The they grew 21.1% year-on-year in the first month of the year, reported the Central Reserve Bank (BCR).

“Consumer loans had a twelve-month increase of 21.1% in January, favored by the year-on-year increase in loans of this modality in soles at 21.0% and in dollars at 22.3%. In monthly terms, consumer credit advanced 0.9% in the first month of the year,” the monetary entity specified.

At the segment level, the vehicle credit it increased 16.6% year-on-year in the first month of 2023, while in monthly terms it showed a variation of 1.1%.

Meanwhile, the segment it increased 32.7%, while the monthly variation was 1%.

“The interannual increase of the rest of consumer loans was 19.0 percent in January, with a monthly expansion rate of 1.0 percent in said month,” he highlighted.

At a general level, credit to individuals showed a year-on-year growth of 15.4% in the reference month, “influenced by the higher loans of this modality in soles, with an increase of 16.2 percent year-on-year in January.” The BCR highlighted that credit to individuals increased 0.6%. In this case, the amount amounted to S/160,226 million.
