Consumer confidence hits its best level so far in 2022

The Consumer Confidence Indicator, prepared by the INEGI and the Bank of Mexico, stood at 44.3 points. That is, 0.4 points above the level of March and 1.8 points above April 2021. This is its best level of the year.

Confidence that the country’s situation will improve in the next 12 months rose 1.5 units, despite the fact that inflation reached 7.7% annually in the first half of April.

In the reference month, an improvement was observed in the conditions for families to save part of their income. The complementary indicator that measures this aspect advanced 1.8 monthly points and 3.2 points compared to April 2021, to stand at 35.4 points.

However, the perception of the Mexican consumer about the economic situation of their households, compared to that of a previous year, deteriorated by decreasing 0.3 monthly points. The same happens with the economic situation of households expected within 12 months, since this index fell 0.2 points compared to March.
