The Consumer Confidence Index (ICC), from Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), dropped 0.4 point from September to October. As a result, the indicator dropped to 88.6 points, on a scale of 0 to 200 points. The data were released today (25), in Rio de Janeiro, by FGV.
The fall was driven by worsening expectations for the coming months. The Expectations Index dropped 1.5 points, after four consecutive highs, and reached 98.7 points.
Among the components that influenced expectations, the optimism of families with the evolution of the financial situation in the next six months stands out, which fell by 2.7 points.
The Current Situation Index, which measures confidence in the present, rose 1.2 points to 74.5 points. The increase was influenced by the perception of improvement in relation to the general economic situation, which increased by 0.8 point.
