Consumer confidence advanced in February, but outlook deteriorates

The monthly advance of 2.5 points stands out in the component where consumers indicate the “current possibilities of the members of the household, compared to those of a year ago, to make purchases of furniture, television, washing machine, other household appliances, etc. ”. Although, it must be taken into account that this item continues with a low score of 29.3 points.

In contrast, a reduction of 0.9 points was observed in the component that reveals consumer perceptions about the expected economic situation of household members within 12 months, compared to the current one. This component also has an annual drop of 0.7 points, but remains at a positive level of 56.1 points.

Likewise, the component that talks about the perception of the economic situation of households improved marginally, compared to that of 12 months ago and also the one that talks about the expected situation for the country in 12 months, compared to the current one. Both were up 0.3 and 0.1 points, respectively.

Prospects for employment, consumption and savings deteriorate.

In the complementary indicators of the consumer confidence indicator, there was a monthly deterioration in the prospects for the next 12 months for saving (-0.7 points), the employment situation (-0.5 points), the personal economic situation (-1.3 points ) and plans to buy a new or used car (-0.4 points).
