The plenary of Congress of the republic This Thursday, by insistence, it approved Bill No. 00157/2021-CR, which seeks to reduce the response time to claims filed by consumers against companies to 15 non-extendable business days.
Another measure that incorporates the law approved today is linked to the Complaints Book. The legislative norm indicates that commercial establishments have the obligation to respond to claims and complaints also in 15 non-extendable business days.
If promulgated by the Government, the rule will enter into force 60 calendar days from the day following its publication in the newspaper El Peruano.
As for its regulation, Indecopi will have a term of no more than 30 calendar days counted from the publication of the law to issue the necessary directives or adapt the existing ones for the effective application of what is referred to as the claims in the Book of Claims.
The norm was approved with 97 votes in favor, 5 against and 2 abstentions, after being observed by the Executive Branch.
This legislative initiative will amend articles 24 and 152 of Law No. 29571, referring to the Consumer Protection and Defense Code.
