MADRID, Spain.- The Consulate of Mexico in Havana will implement improvements to the Citas Cuba platform starting Monday, December 26. As reported by the entity through a releasethe measures are part of the opening of the new consulate and its objective is to expand the availability of slots for visa applications to that country, as well as to make their allocation transparent and eliminate intermediaries or managers who “they profit deceitfullyand with the personal data of the users”.
From the indicated date, the appointments corresponding to the first quarter of 2023 will be granted in the order that they are requested by the users, prioritizing, firstly, family reunification visas, secondly, work visas, thirdly, visas student or scholarship holder and, finally, visitor visas without permission to carry out paid activities. While in the first fortnight of March, those corresponding to the following quarter will be assigned.
Steps to obtain appointments
The document specifies that those interested in obtaining an appointment for consular services must do so through the website citascuba.sre.gob.mx. From this site they must create a new user, select the procedure to request and verify their identity by clicking on the link that they will receive by email.
Subsequently, the user will receive an email with the confirmation of the appointment including date and time. If the appointments have run out, the user will be registered in the system and will be notified when there are new appointments available.
The Consulate recalled that the appointments are free, personal and non-transferable. “No intermediary or public official has access to our automated allocation system,” he further specified.
As well as warned not to share personal data with third parties that offer to schedule appointments in your name, since said appointments could be subject to cancellation without prior notice and the users involved will be permanently blocked from the Citas Cuba system.
