Consular service bill will be discussed this Thursday 26 in the Senate

Consular service bill will be discussed this Thursday 26 in the Senate

The Chamber of Senators will deal with the bill “On the diplomatic, consular, administrative and technical service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Paraguay” next Thursday, May 26, as the second item on the Agenda (ODD).

The request was made by Lilian Samaniego, national senator for the ANR (official) and was accompanied by her colleagues. It should be remembered that the project was mediated because it establishes the expansion of political quotas for positions in the Foreign Ministry. That is, it allowed the entry of people outside the profession instead of career diplomats. It already had its half sanction in the Senate and last week it was approved with modifications by the Lower House, for which it returned to the Senate.

The modifications approved by the Chamber of Deputies are related to the percentage of political quotas. The deputies established a maximum of 20%, taking into account that Samaniego’s intention was for the percentage to be 30%.
