SANTIAGO. This city has become a single plug through the four cardinal points as a direct consequence of the construction of the cable car and the monorail by the Integrated Transport System, without a solution to the problem being contemplated for the time being.
In this city there are no longer peak hours in which congestion on public roads of light and heavy vehicles occurred, but rather they occur in the morning, afternoon and night.
Due to the construction of the cable car and the monorail, several streets and avenues were diverted, but apparently instead of helping to solve the problem, they have aggravated the situation.
Private drivers said that sometimes they lose from 45 minutes to an hour to move from one place to another, with which they face difficulties in their productive or work activities.
Several driver leaders, including Gervacio de la Rosa, president of the Regional Transportation Federation (FETTRANRENO) and the Dominican Transportation Consortium, stated that there was no consensus with drivers to apply detours on urban and suburban routes.
With the construction of the monorail, Tamboril, 27 de Febrero and Circunvalación Sur avenues are impacted, roads that are used by public transport vehicles on routes F (Cienfuegos), ZP, A and C, which deepens the blockages daily.
While the construction of the cable car includes the Circunvalación Sur, Salvador Estrella Sadhalá and Yapur Dumit avenues, through which the urban transport routes M, K, N, H, HV and CA pass, in Santiago.
The excavations that are carried out for the placement of the columns and towers that will serve as support for the structure of both road systems occupy part of these roads, significantly reducing the flow of vehicles through these areas.
