“It will take two years or so to build,” said the executive and pointed out that the Environmental Impact Study (EIA) is in force.

This mine is located in Arequipa and the estimated investment it will require is US$1.4 billion.

According to the Peruvian Institute of Economics (IPE), this project will produce around 120,000 tons of copper and will generate approximately 9,000 jobs.

A few months ago, when there was talk about the possibility of this project starting operations, the president of the Central Reserve Bank, Julio Velarde, stated that Tía María will have an impact on the economic growth of the country, but that this will be noticed starting 2025 and 2026.
