Of the 380 kilometers of border between the DR and Haiti, the fence will only cover 200 at an estimated cost of 2 billion pesos.
The President of the Republic, Luis Abinaderwill travel this Sunday to the Dajabon province to give the first piebald in the construction of a perimeter fence on the Dominican-Haitian border of which have already been built around 23 kilometers. The announcement of the lifting of this protection wall was made on February 27 of last year and so far it is planned to double reinforce the most critical points.
It is recalled that in January of this year a meeting was held with representatives of the ministries of defense and economy with commissioners of international organizations to offer the details of the fence that intends to integrate physical fence, lighting system, command and control center, sensors of movement, video surveillance cameras, radars, communication and surveillance tower, unmanned aerial units, among other technological and infrastructure solutions along the border line.

So far, the Jimaní and Elías Piña sections have been built, the second and third in importance between the two countries, and the works are still underway. The raised fence is about four meters high on a cement brick wall and is topped by a spiral of razor wire and is guarded 24 hours a day by CESFRONT agents.
The finished part was built between 2019 and 2020, on the Elías Piña hills, the official pass between the Dominican Republic and Haiti. It is important to point out that the structure will not cover the 380-kilometer border between the Dominican Republic and Haiti, since the mountainous areas of both countries will be ignored.
For this project, the Government provided an item in the General Budget of the Nation for this 2022 of RD$2,000 million for the construction of the “intelligent” perimeter fence.
