The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), through the program National Proviasreported that the construction of the Huallaga bridge, located in the province of Tocache, department of San Martín, is 57.03% complete.
The work of this structure that will strengthen the integration of the citizens of the northeast of the country began in April 2021 and is expected to conclude in January 2023. Its investment is S/ 159.5 million.
This bridge is built over the waters of the Huallaga River and it will be integrated with the El Chorro–Tres Cruces–Sihuas–Huacrachuco–Uchiza–Emp bridge road section. Route 5N, which will interconnect with the jungle and the coast of the country, going through the Sierra de Huánuco and Ancash.
The MTC maintained that the future bridge is a double cable-stayed structure 407.8 meters long, which will have two 3.30-meter lanes for vehicle traffic.
It will also have 1.2 meter long berms on both sides for the pedestrian walkway. In addition, this project considers the construction of 342 meters of road access at both ends of the bridge.
Likewise, he pointed out that there is a construction supervisory company, which has the obligation to permanently ensure the correct execution and fulfillment of the contract.
He added that the new structure will benefit more than 599,000 people. Currently, rafts and boats are used to cross the river, which causes higher costs and delays in the transfer of local production.
