The head of the General Directorate of Border Development, Ramón Pérez Tejada, announced today the start of the construction of the Binational Market in flintswith the aim of creating alternatives so that the inhabitants of border communities can market their products and at the same time benefit from adequate spaces to carry out their commercial activities.
“The Binational Market which is carried out in the southwestern part of the country, on the border with Haiti, is a motor of border development to improve basic services and increase social investment, serving as a boost to producers and local economic actors to increase sales, thus improving their quality of life,” he said.
During his speech, the official offered details of the physic structure of this market, distributed as follows:
- Three two-story industrial warehouses, with an area of 915 m2 each and capacity for 392 people. Each ship will have 40 cubicles, with a total of 120.
- Six warehouses with a total area of 1,188 m2.
- Two administrative offices of 82 m2 each.
- 43 parking spaces for motors.
- 11 parking spaces for trucks in the loading and unloading area.
- 77 parking spaces for light vehicles.
About the award
According to the documents published on the Transactional Portal of the General Directorate of Public Contracts, on June 2, 2022, the construction of the market was awarded for 88,451,016.92 pesos to construction company Const and Inmobi SFSRL, which, according to the award document, presented one of the proposals with the lowest amount, has an address close to the work and offered a shorter delivery time.
The General Directorate of Border Development Its mission is “to ensure the security and economic, social and tourist development of the border area, its road, communicational and productive integration for the benefit of the entire Nation”, confirmed Pérez Tejada.
At the end of the act, Pérez Tejada invited the authorities to give the first shovel where the work will be built.
