Constitutional reform is not a priority, says PLD

SANTO DOMINGO.- The Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) considers the proposal of constitutional reform presented by the Executive Branch to the Senate on August 19.

Through a document presented by the president of the political organization, Danilo Medina, during the extraordinary meeting of the Political Committee, the PLD He considered the reform proposal as a new effort by the Government to “divert the attention of the Dominican people.”

The conclusions of the Political Committee were reflected in a fourteen-point document, in which the purple party expressed its willingness to support the Dominican people in any claims that may arise regarding the final outcome of the aforementioned reform.

They also denounced that the constitutional reform is being proposed in an “improvised and disorganized” manner, pointing to the public letter from the Attorney General of the Republic, Miriam Germán, as “evidence,” in which she revealed that she had not been consulted regarding the requirements and mechanisms for the appointment of the Attorney General of the Republic, nor for the National Council of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
