The Office of the Attorney Generalthrough the Area of Illicit Enrichment and Constitutional Complaints, filed a constitutional complaint against the Congressman Edgar Tello Montesalleged perpetrator of the crime of attempted extortion and other completed crimes, to the detriment of the State.
According to a statement, the facts refer to the fact that he asked for part of the salary of four trusted employees of his office. In addition, when he presided over the Foreign Trade and Tourism Commission received a donation of 8 thousand dollars to deliver baskets with food and stoves to community kitchens.
However, despite the money given to him by the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, he allegedly forced his employees to hand over more than S/. 27,000 to comply with the donation.
“Likewise, in his capacity as president of the Foreign Trade and Tourism Commission of the Congress of the republic “For the period 2022-2023, he requested a donation of USD 8,000 as humanitarian aid to the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, to deliver food baskets and 50 equipped kitchens to the communal pots and soup kitchens in several districts of Metropolitan Lima. However, after receiving the indicated amount and abusing his position, he allegedly forced the workers of his office and the congressional commission to cover the cost of S/ 27,800 to carry out said deliveries,” the Public Prosecutor’s Office details.
As we recall, Congressman Tello Montes is part of the Podemos Peru bench, after his resignation from the Magisterial Bloc. He came to Congress with the support of Peru Libre.
Ethics Commission shielded Edgar Tello in the ‘cut salary’ case
Last Thursday, April 18, the Parliamentary Ethics Commission of the Congress of the republic protected Edgar Tello, another congressman accused of ‘cutting his salary’.
Despite the accusations and complaints against the parliamentarian, at that time, of the Magisterial Block, he was defended by his colleagues and the sanction he received was only a public reprimand and a 60-day fine.
The congressmen who voted in favor of the sanction against the parliamentarian were:

At the time, the sanction was only for having received a donation from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, something that is prohibited by the Congress regulations.
However, despite the complaints from former employees against the parliamentarian for having asked them for up to 5% of their salary, Tello Montes was armored.
One of the workers who filed the complaint was Marie Silva Uriartewho also accused the congressman of harassment and workplace bullying. These facts were confirmed by the Judiciary through a request for protection in favor of Uriarte.
