A publication of an alleged plot between the mayor of Asunción, Óscar Rodríguez, and the liberal sector, to remove Luis Fernando Bernal from the presidency of the Municipal Board gained strength on social networks when the president of the Board himself made a retweet of The conspiracy.
The supposed fact generated a strong position, since the change to the president would take place days after the treatment of Rodríguez’s management, considering this as a possible desperate attitude of the Mayor. However, the liberal sector echoed the accusations, revealing that the presumption is actually related to an internal fight in Añetete, who are actually conspiring against Bernal.
“The problem arose among men from Añetete due to an issue of the people in power, very specifically due to Hugo Velázquez and his team. There is talk of the change of Luis Fernando Bernal, but it is really the people from his caucus who asked for that because we do not talk to anyone, ”liberal councilor Félix Ayala unleashed.
Councilman Felix Ayala
Such is the point of the alleged conspiracy within Añetete itself, that the liberal councilor highlighted that the one who would be occupying Bernal’s position is the councilor of Añetete, Marcelo Centurión. At this, he asked how the Liberals would be part of a conspiracy if the president’s own team wants to remove him from office.
“Of course we heard about the situation and they even offered us the vice presidency, but we didn’t meet or talk to anyone. We only commented among some colleagues, but there was nothing formal, ”said the liberal councilor.
For the councilman, Bernal must have enough courage to admit that the members of his own caucus betrayed him. However, being Hugo Velázquez’s campaign manager in Asunción, he will not admit that there are discrepancies in his movement, for which he will try to blame other sectors, according to Councilman Ayala.
INTERNAL PROBLEMS
The politician indicated that his bench was surprised in a bad way by the well-founded hypotheses, pointing out that to give rise to a conspiracy, elements such as the breakdown by a group or sector and conversations with other political sectors are required. In this regard, he stressed that the factor of internal dissidence is developing, but the talks did not come about, at least not with the PLRA.
“I find the comments that we Liberals are conspiring unpleasant. Bernal must actually say that members of his own caucus betrayed him. Changes only occur when fights between Colorados develop,” said the councilman.
Likewise, he recalled that in the Board, the Colorados are 15, while the Liberals are 5, with 4 from Patria Querida, for which the numbers to speak of an alleged conspiracy are not even given. As for the inconveniences regarding the internal problem of Añetete, Ayala deduced that it may be due to misunderstandings when supporting the candidates for the Senate.
For his part, Enrique Berni, an Asuncion councilor for the Honor Colorado movement, remarked that he knows nothing about the plot against Bernal. He assured that at least in his bench the issue has not been discussed, not even by the president of the sector, Turi Capello.
Councilor Enrique Berni
“Apparently there is an anger, but it is not from my bench, but from Añetete. However, I don’t want to be irresponsible to say that there is a break in the team. No councilman came to talk to me about the matter, much less did we talk about it in Honor Colorado, it is an internal matter of Añetete, ”he concluded.
