The choice of the Monumental de Lima, Peru’s largest stadium, capable of receiving up to 80,093 fans, was confirmed by the Council of Conmebol after meeting between President Alejandro Domínguez, Peruvian government officials and the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF).
This will be the second opportunity in which the Peruvian capital will host the decision of the main club competition in America. In 2019, Flamengo led by Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus defeated River Plate (Argentina) 2-1, with two goals from striker Gabriel Barbosa, to win Libertadores for the second time in history (Red-Black has three titles in the competition).
