The congresswoman Vivian Olivosfrom the bench of People’s Forcewas the protagonist of a tense moment during his visit to the city of Chancaywhere she was met with questions from local citizens and journalists.
The situation became awkward when Olivos, faced with criticism for his performance in the region, responded in a defiant manner, even going so far as to blow a kiss to one of the journalists present, which provoked even greater rejection among those present.
The parliamentarian’s visit to Chancay, initially scheduled to supervise projects related to her administration, was marked by discontent among the local population.
In a video that quickly went viral on social media and in the media, the congresswoman can be seen being questioned by a journalist who asked her about progress in key areas such as health, infrastructure and education in the province.
Olivos responded defiantly: “I have done more than you in education”in response to the journalist’s insistence on crucial issues for the town. In this tense exchange, the parliamentarian blew a kiss to the reporter, a gesture that was interpreted as a mockery and that further inflamed the spirits of those present, who had already been expressing their displeasure with the congresswoman, also reminding her of her recent labeling of citizens as “scum”.
After the altercation, Olivos participated in the presentation of a police contingent together with the Minister of the Interior, Juan José Santiváñez. However, he caused controversy again when, during his speech, he made a mistake by saying: “Thank you, and long live insecurity!”which sparked immediate booing from neighbors, who interpreted the phrase as a lack of seriousness in the face of growing concerns about crime in the region.
