Congressmen of the ruling party criticize appointment of Betssy Chávez

Congressmen from the ruling bloc criticized the Executive for reinstating to the Ministerial Cabinet, despite having been previously censored by Parliament.

“I know that this Cabinet is undoubtedly not the right one because it is not possible to put in place a management incorporating censored ministers. She will be a very good professional, but it is not a good start at this stage of the Government either,” Edgar Tello (BM) told Canal N.

Congresswoman Kelly Portalatino (PL) said that “these appointments have been a swap that generates an affront to Parliament and the Peruvian people.” Flavio Cruz (PL) limited himself to recalling that he voted in favor of the censorship of Chávez on May 26 last.

For the former president of the Constitutional Court, Oscar Urviola, she was the least suitable to play as a minister. “She legally has no impediments, but the political aspect should have been considered,” he told Peru21.

As he stated, this appointment represents a challenge to Parliament in order to maintain a confrontational situation. “It seems that this is the objective of Pedro Castillo: to have that environment of distraction regarding the investigations that follow him,” said Urviola.

Betssy Chávez —author of severe restrictions on labor outsourcing and promoter of the law that modifies collective labor relations and facilitates the massification of unionized strikes— was censored with 71 votes in favor “for her lack of capacity and serious negligence in her management” .
