In the middle of the discussion in the first debate of the tax reform in the joint economic commissions of the Senate and the Chamber, the members of the Cambio Radical (CR) party withdrew from the discussion of the project.
The party reiterated its rejection of the legislative initiative and said it does not support the current tax reform.
Their arguments are that the project has negative effects on employment, that it does not encourage growth and does not favor the productive apparatus of Colombia.
“As the caucus of the Cambio Radical party, we do not vote in joint third committees on President Gustavo Petro’s tax reform, which is neither social nor equitable,” said Senator David Luna.
“As a party we presented some proposals and none was taken into account by the Minister of Finance,” argued CR through an official communication.
