Edwin Martínez blamed the board of directors of Congress for approving the bidding for the 80 soles lunch of the defense congressmen. Legislator said he did not know about the process.
Since December 12, 2022, the congressmen left the corporate menu that cost S/15.93 to consume a lunch consisting of various dishes for an amount of S/80. However, this addendum, which allowed the increase in food expenses, according to the parliamentarians for ArequipaEdwin Martínez and Diana González, was unknown.
Despite the fact that more than two months have passed since the board of directors of the Congress signed the addendum, the parliamentarian for Arequipa, Edwin Martínez, affirmed that he was unaware of the cost of the buffet that is served every day that the Plenary meets. In this sense, he informed that he will carry out an inspection work because it would be a misuse of the budget.
“What we have to do is control, control, that is, who would know that they pay S/ 80 for a lunch that is not worth 30 soles,” said the legislator after holding a meeting at the Arequipa Regional Council for his week of representation.
Likewise, Congresswoman Diana Gonzales indicated that she only found out about the cost of lunch on Sunday. “I agree that they evaluate it. We have become aware of this report.”
He explained that this service provided since previous efforts was paralyzed during the covid-19 pandemic and that it was only resumed in December 2022 with price changes.
