Congressman Undurraga assures that constitutional dialogues must “materialize as soon as possible”

The deputy and head of the Evópoli bench, Francisco Undurraga, referred to the latest talks between the political parties to channel the second stage of the constituent process. In his opinion, one of the issues that has not yet been defined, that of the drafting body, should be small, so that it is easier to “agree.”

Along these lines, Undurraga affirmed that they have the “obligation” to reach an agreement in November, which “has to materialize as soon as possible.”

“Given the slowness of the forces that support President Boric in proposing, we have been clear and forceful, we believe that there must be a body that drafts the Constitution, that is democratically elected, and that does not have more than 50 people, similar to what is today the Senate,” said the deputy to Cooperative.

“From Chile Vamos we are pushing that, we are committed to the democratic process, we believe that they have to be mandatory elections and we are willing to materialize it as soon as possible,” he added.

Regarding the magnitude of the drafting body, the parliamentarian from Evópoli stated that “the smaller the commission that drafts the proposal, the easier it will be to reach an agreement. What we want is a good text, as we promised during the campaign; to have a good new Constitution”.

“There must be an agreement, there must be a new Constitution. That is what the citizens have forcefully requested during these last three years, and we cannot ignore it. We must not be light in the comments. We have the obligation to reach agreements and that is what we are working for,” concluded Undurraga.
