The Congressman of the Republic Edgar Reymundo Mercado made an inspection visit to the Arequipa Bridge work, located in the center of the city of Huancayo, as part of the representation week of January 2026.
During the inspection, the start of earthworks and excavation of abutments for the project, which requires an investment of more than 26 million soles, was verified.
According to the construction resident, the bridge will have a span of 60 meters, a section 12.40 meters wide, double track, sidewalks and safety barriers. The structure will have a deep piling system to guarantee its stability and durability.
Currently, the work presents a physical progress of 0.8% and is expected to reach 1% by the end of the week. Completion is scheduled for January 2027, although advancing delivery times is being evaluated.
The provincial mayor of Huancayo highlighted that there are no problems with the neighbors for the liberation of areas and pointed out that the infrastructure will improve walkability and alleviate vehicle congestion in the city center.
