Congressman Martínez: understanding is the only way to peace in the country

Political understanding is the way to move the country forward, so the result of the dialogue tables is positive for Venezuela and Venezuelans, highlighted this Monday the vice president of the Commission for Dialogue, Peace and Reconciliation of the National Assembly (AN), deputy Luis Eduardo Martínez.

«Political logic imposes that it is necessary to understand and agree. The only way in Venezuela to move the country forward is understanding, to guarantee peace,” said the parliamentarian.

During a television interview, Martínez emphasized that the signing of the Second Agreement between the National Government and a sector of the opposition in Mexico is a great achievement for the country.

Despite this, he regretted that so much time had to pass, months and years, and the deterioration of the Venezuelan economy in order to reach the political logic of understanding through dialogue.

repentance was missing

For the parliamentarian, “what was missing from the weekend session is a manifestation of regret” for having addressed the situation in the country in the wrong way.

In this sense, Martínez pointed out “that the only thing that was achieved with this effort to seize power through shortcuts, was to harm Venezuelans.”

Dialogue reigns in Venezuela

Martínez stressed that since last year in Venezuela “there has been a multiplication of dialogues not only politically, but also in different sectors,” while appreciating that in these dialogues the economic and social agenda was prioritized.

He recalled that “there are 16 billion dollars that belong to Venezuelans who are in frozen funds. We hope that in the future immediate steps can be taken to guarantee that Venezuelans can live better.

Chevron Revival

Martínez indicated that with the reactivation of the operations of the Chevron Corporation, a better scenario is envisioned both for Venezuela and for the United States itself.

“This was worked on between Venezuela and the United States, with American and Venezuelan authorities. It is convenient for the United States because what Chevron does in Venezuela goes there, and 12 billion dollars will be invested in Venezuela to go to 800,000 barrels of oil per day, in the next 18 to 20 months,” he added.

On Saturday, the delegations of the National Government and the oppositions that make up the Unitary Platform, signed the Second Partial Agreement for the Protection of the Venezuelan People in Mexico.
