The incident occurred at the time the teacher De Ceremony mentioned and thanked the presence of the parliamentarian as a guest authority. The expressions of disapproval such as pifias, boos and harangues of rejection were extended for several seconds and were evident even in the official transmission of the event through social networks.
It should be remembered that Agüero was chosen as a congressman precisely by this region. The rejection of the presence of the parliamentarian was due to past statements in those affirmed that “Arequipa does not feel”, which generated criticism from local authorities, such as the district mayor of Yanahuara, Sergio Bowliger, who described his expressions as a “betrayal of Arequipa and Peru.”
Likewise, Bollinger, at the end of the ceremony delivered poles with the phrase of ‘I feel Arequipa’ to the Minister of Agrarian Development and Irrigation, Angel Manero, to the regional governor, Rohel Sánchez; and to the provincial mayor, Victor Hugo Riverabut he did not give one to the parliamentarian Agüero.
Maria Agüero proposed law to control the media
The bill presented by Congresswoman María Agüero (Peru Libre), proposes that all media (writings, radio, television and digital) are obliged to submit a detailed report to the Government every year. This report must include data on their sources of financing, activities carried out, owners, hearing achieved, programming, agreements and their advertising or donations
Given this, the National Association of Journalists of Peru (ANP) rejected this proposal, warning that it could be transformed into “a pressure mechanism against the press”, especially in a context in which increasing attacks are perceived from the Executive and Congress to the journalistic exercise. In addition, he points out that the initiative legislates uniformly on different types of media without considering their differences, which makes it inapplicable and unfeasible in practice.
