Congresswoman Kelly Portalatino of the bench of Free Peru answered questions from the press about the two years that Vladimir Cerron (creator of the party where she is a member) has been a fugitive from justice.
Portalatino expressed his full support for Cerrón, a fugitive after being sentenced to effective prison. “We trust in his innocence, we believe in Dr. Vladimir Cerrón and we are going for the rematch in 2026, of course,” declared Portalatino.
When asked about Cerrón’s public appearances, Portalatino defended his leader’s actions: “A person who believes in his innocence has complete freedom to make the decision. That is legitimate, it is legal.”
The legislator confirmed that Cerrón is “in good health” after his recent presentation of a book, and that he sends an “extensive combative embrace” to the militancy.

In contrast, Congressman Alejandro Cavero pointed out the Government for the lack of action in the case, describing the situation as “tremendous impunity.”
Cavero demanded compliance with the law and court rulings. “In Peru, there is the rule of law and the sentences have to be carried out. The man has to be in jail because that is what the Judiciary orders,” the parliamentarian mentioned.
The legislator maintained that President Dina Boluarte “has had no interest in capturing Mr. Vladimir Cerrón for a long time,” which demonstrates “obvious complicity with some of Mr. Cerrón’s acts.”
