The president of the Special Commission in charge of the process of selection of candidates for magistrates of the Constitutional Court (CT), Jose Balcazar (Free Peru), was pronounced after this Tuesday the Plenary Session of Congress elected the six tribunes who replaced those whose mandate had expired.
The parliamentarian accepted that there may be criticism regarding the political positions of the new magistrates, but clarified that this has not prevailed in the working group that he chaired.
“There can be criticism of course because one admires a certain political party, but that has not prevailed in us. Presenting to Congress has prevailed and this in a political act has given this magnificent result. Now I hope that the polls can prove the reason, Parliament can indeed work in consensus and can achieve these results, which are of tremendous importance”, he declared from outside the Legislative Palace.

Balcazar He also asserted that there has been no interference in choosing the candidates for tribunes, for which he stressed that they have not allowed themselves to be manipulated”by those of the right, of the left, of the center, not least of the caviars”.
“I am convinced that consensus can be reached in the multiparty commission that I have chaired because we have to lay down certain personal and political interests. Not completely, but the majority of my commission have had a positive character, always thinking of Peru.”, added the parliamentarian of Peru Libre.
at another time, Jose Balcazar He regretted that there was no more female quota and of the selected magistrates, only one is a woman. “I would have liked to have more female quota“, said.
