In the run-up to its final review by the Plenary of the Congress of the Republic, the Permanent Commission unanimously approved the final report that recommends disqualifying for 10 years for the exercise of public function to legislator Freddy Díaz, accused of having raped a worker in his office in Parliament facilities.
Legislators from all political benches endorsed without further discussion the proposal prepared by the Popular Action congressman, Luis Aragón, who recalled that Díaz himself acknowledged before the Parliamentary Ethics Commission that he had sexual relations with the young woman, although according to his version of the party It was in a “consensual” way. With this precision, Aragón refuted his colleague José Balcázar, from Perú Bicentenario, who questioned whether it is specified in the report that Freddy Díaz committed the sexual act. “We are becoming judges, it is a bit of an exaggeration, you could say there would be,” he opined.
SIGHT: Luis Aragón: “We ask the presidency of Congress to see the complaint in plenary as soon as possible”
But Balcázar’s position did not have an echo. On the contrary, it was refuted by the president of the Subcommittee on Constitutional Accusations, Lady Camones, who maintained that by acknowledging Díaz himself that he had sexual relations with his worker and that he drank liquor in his congressional office, it allowed establishing that he did infringe a series of articles of the Political Constitution.
Susel Paredes (Integrity and Development), for her part, stressed that the offense has been proven and added that Díaz violated the server’s right to freedom. “That has been made clear, verified and it is fair that it be sanctioned,” she pointed out.
HE DID NOT GIVE THE FACE
Freddy Díaz, who entered Congress for Alianza para el Progreso, was summoned to the session to exercise his right to defense. Despite the fact that throughout the process he alleged an alleged violation of due process, yesterday he did not attend. That did not prevent 25 congressmen from speaking out en bloc for his disqualification, which is now imminent.
