Congress will debate censorship against Willy Huerta tomorrow

The Congress of the Republic will debate tomorrow at 9:30 am the motion of censure against the Minister of the Interior, questioned by the constant changes in the high command of the National Police and the unstable situation of Harvey Colchado, head of the PNP special team that provides support to the anti-corruption prosecutors led by Marita Barreto.

The initiative, which has the objective of “avoiding the continuation of similar acts that affect the institutionality of the National Police” and calls for Huerta’s departure due to his “manifest moral incapacity and lack of suitability for the exercise of the position”, would reach the 66 votes necessary to finalize its approval.

The APP bench has already announced that it will vote en bloc in favor of the motion. In addition, congressmen from Fuerza Popular, Popular Renewal, Avanza País, Integrity and Development, Somos Perú and part of Acción Popular signed the document against Huerta.

Willy Huerta was questioned by the Plenary of Congress last Wednesday, September 7. He would be the seventh head of the Ministry of the Interior to fall in 14 months of government.
