There are 4 days left for the legislature to end and what is conceived as one of the main solutions to the crisis has not been added to the Plenary’s agenda by the Board of Spokespersons. Other issues such as questions to the Minister of the Interior and the resignation of Digna Calle would also be dealt with in the next parliamentary period.
This February 10 he Congress will terminate his legislature in the midst of a situation of government crisis and social outbreak which began two months ago, on December 7, after Dina Boluarte the government took over. As the protests have intensified, the intentions to establish control mechanisms against the Executive branch have intensified, raising two interpellation motions: against the head of the Mininter, Vincent Romero, as well as a motion for vacancy against the same Boluarte. However, with a plenary session suspended, and four days before the end of the legislature, these measures are in danger of not being reviewed until after February 15.
On January 26, the president of the Board of Directors, José Williams, began a plenary session of Congress that has not yet concluded. This is the main reason why the interpellation motions presented against Vicente Romero on January 25 and 26 are not taken into account, the first proposed by Flavio Cruz as a result of the brutal repression of the demonstrations, the second raised after the intrusion of the PNP in San Marcos, nor of the vacancy motion against Boluarte.
In the case of the two motions to question Romero, it would only be necessary to realize them at the beginning of the next plenary session, once the current session, which is suspended, concludes. While in the case of Boluarte, the vacancy motion has not even been admitted on the agenda. This inclusion should be issued by the Board of Spokespersons of Congress, but, to date, there is no information that a meeting will be held in the next four days after the legislature concludes.
Another issue that was expected to be reviewed in this legislature and that will not arrive in time, is the resignation of Congresswoman Digna Calle to the second vice presidency of the Board of Directors, which was presented on February 3 and with which she sought the recomposition of a new Board of Directors. However, for this to be admitted, a new plenary session must begin and, according to the internal regulations of Congress, within a period of no more than five days proceed with the voting for the appointment of a new member of the table or of the general directive.
Meanwhile, all the projects for the advancement of elections that are so demanded by the citizens are in the folder and without a clear solution or solution from both Congress and Boluarte.
If there are intentions to meet each of these legislative requests, Congress is going to have to speed up its dates. For this Tuesday the 7th, a session of the Permanent Commission is scheduled in which these cases can be reviewed, but they will not be dealt with until they are seen by a plenary session that is not scheduled. The situation occurs in a government that is dragging a trail of 59 deaths and for which there are still no managers from the institutions.
