The president of Congress, Eduardo Salhuana, considered it “audacious” that Alberto Fujimori’s widow, Satomi Kataoka, intends to access the former president’s lifetime pension.
“Personally, I consider it audacious for this person to have stated that, at least, the president of Congress is not willing to accept [sic]”, he declared to RPP.
Regarding Fujimori’s pension for life, Salhuana said that, in his opinion, it would not correspond to the widow but the marriage would still have to be validated and corroborated.
“She is a foreign citizen, the marriage that one performs outside the country has to be, first, corroborated, validated and it has to be seen if it is a legally protected act and after that it will be seen what is appropriate,” he said.
“But it seems to me that it is not appropriate, in any case,” he added.
As is known, Satomi Kataoka has shown interest in traveling to our country in order to visit the grave of her deceased husband and claim the lifetime pension of S/ 15,600 that Parliament approved in favor of the former president.
In an interview with Punto Final, the Japanese businesswoman said that she “is still discussing” with her lawyer about requesting the benefit or some type of inheritance left by the former president, who died on September 11 at the age of 86.
