Congress: Spokesperson for the Alliance for Progress also confirms the resignation of Héctor Acuña Peralta

The spokesman for the caucus Eduardo Salhuana, confirmed the resignation of Héctor Acuña, who joined Gladys Echaíz, and ruled out that Roberto Chiabra will do the same.

In statements to journalists, the legislator also denied that he was going to leave the ranks of the party founded by César Acuña Peralta.

“These are difficult situations that any political group is going through and it must be faced with serenity and responsibility. No (I intend to resign), in no way, I am the spokesperson and I have to be with my political organization until the end”he underlined.

“I called him (Roberto Chiabra) and congratulated him (on his birthday). I have spoken with him and he is calm. I don’t think there is such a decision (relinquishing the bench)”he added.

Salhuana indicated that the APP bench will meet next week to define the candidates for the Board of Directors and although he denied that he is “weakened”reiterated that his party must assume the role that corresponds to it in national political life.

“[Con] the bench is going to meet next week, obviously we are all affected by the resignation of two friends, two colleagues, but we have to move on. Political life continues and APP has to assume the role that corresponds to it in national political life”he stated.

As recalled, Gladys Echaiz This Friday, July 15, he presented his letter of resignation to the APP bench, with which he had reached Parliament in the last general elections, alleging “reasons of conscience”.

Later, hours later, it was learned that Héctor Acuña Peralta also presented his resignation to the parliamentary group of the party founded by his brother César, with which he was left with 12 members.

Like Gladys Echaíz, said parliamentarian was also voiced as one of the APP letters to preside over the Board of Directors for the 2022-2023 legislative period.

It should be noted that legislators from Popular Renewal, such as Jorge Montoya and José Cueto, were in favor of Echaíz’s profile to preside over the Board of Directors, once the management of María del Carmen Alva ends.
