The Senior Official of the Congress of the Republic, Hugo Roviraspoke about Parliament’s decision to give press access only to the Chroniclers’ Roombut not to the Hall of Lost Steps and the hemicycle.
Rovira pointed out that according to instructions from the National Civil Defense Institute (Indeci), journalists cannot yet enter these two areas of the Legislative Palace, for which he considered that human life is being preserved.
“We have to put certain protections on the balconies because there are objects that have fallen down many times from the balconies and there is also the danger that someone could fall. It is not a matter of blocking information, what we are preserving is human life”, he stated in dialogue with Canal N.
In that sense, the senior officer clarified that he has been working in Congress for several years, so He denied that at any time the press had been prohibited from entering outside a pandemic context. “Everything is just opening”, he added.
Likewise, Rovira pointed out that a group of parliamentarians has “fears” that journalists enter all areas of the Legislature, as he assured that some communicators “farandulean” the news.
“There are some people who have certain fears because there are some sectors of the press that ‘show off’ the news. They are not behind what is debatedwhat is discussed, what benefits the country, if not in what the person said, is yawning or fell asleep“, held.
Finally, Hugo Rovira pointed out that in approximately 3 or 4 weeks the doors to the Hall of the Lost Steps and the Chamber of Congress will open. “Our work does not delay us, the Indeci delays us“, said.
