The Board of Directors of Congress ratified that the censorship of the Minister of the Interior will be reconsidered, Willy Huertanext Wednesday at 10:00 am, despite being scheduled during performance week.
“It is reported that, in accordance with article 86 of the Congress Regulations, motions of censure are debated and voted on not before the fourth calendar day of their presentation nor after the tenth,” it is indicated in a statement from Parliament.
In the morning, Congressman Edwin Martínez (AP) had requested to reschedule the plenary session because it “would interrupt the activities of the week of representation” and “would be mocking the expectations of the population with whom it had been agreed to meet.”
In addition, in the official letter addressed to the president of Congress, Williams Zapata (AvP), the acciopopulist had argued that the reason for the summons “is not urgent” so that it cannot be rescheduled.
The Parliament rejected last Friday the motion of censure against the Minister of the Interior, Willy Huerta, with 55 votes in favor, 38 against and 10 abstentions. At least 66 votes were required to finalize his departure from the Ministerial Cabinet.
After the vote, Adriana Tudela (AvP), presented a request for reconsideration which was notified to the plenary session before the President of Parliament, José Williams, announced that the session was adjourned.
The motion was presented after the questioning of Huerta, last Wednesday, September 7, a measure motivated by the changes in high command of the National Police of Peru (PNP).
