This Monday starts at Congress the installation of the work commissions and the parliamentarians of People’s Action they are still fighting an internal battle for the leadership of the three groups that correspond to them. The other benches have already decided on the names and The one who has generated the most criticism is the investigated José Luna Gálvez (Podemos Peru), who will chair the Budget Commission.
In People’s Action already defined the presidencies of the Transport, Energy and Mines and Foreign Relations commissions. Those who will assume these groups are Luis Aragón, Jorge Flores Ancachi and Raúl Doroteo, respectively.
In the internal meeting of the bench there were legislators who were against these names. Were Karol Paredes, Wilson Soto and Maria Álva.
Sources from the bench reported that internally Wilson Soto was confronted by his colleagues for meetings he would have held with an Executive official close to President Castillo. This legislator, very close to Maria Álva, will not chair any group.
The main fight is for the commission of External relationships. María Alva intended to take over that group. To that end, she has the argument from tradition in the Congress: whoever leaves the presidency of the board of directors becomes the leader of said working group.
But internally, the Popular Action bench chose the Ica legislator Raúl Doroteo for this legislative period.
In this situation, Maria del Carmen Alva Alva and Karol Paredes sent a document to the presidency of Congress, hinting that the names were not agreed upon in a caucus session.
Sources from the bench reported that there was a vote and even a minute was drawn up. But Maria Alva and Carol Walls they did not cast their vote.
In the same document, they question that Jorge Flores Ancachi and Raúl Doroteo chair commissions, despite the questions that weigh on both of them for belonging to the group of so-called “The children”.
The trade did not generate any change. In this situation, María Alva set out to weaken the “Los Niños” bloc.
This is what the legislator told darwin espinoza to the magazine Caretas: María Alva has proposed to destroy the aforementioned group.
In this context, congressmen from other benches yesterday sent a letter to the presidency of the Congress, this time asking that legislators known as “The children” do not integrate the Commissions of Control, Ethics and the Subcommittee on Constitutional Accusations.
The document bears the signatures of Jorge Montoya, José Cueto and Gladys Echaíz from Renovación Popular; Adriana Tudela, Patricia Chirinos, Alejandro Cavero, Jéssica Córdova and José Williams from Avanza País; Flor Pablo and Susel Paredes of Integrity and Development; and Hitler Saavedra from Somos Perú.
They ask to apply article 20 of the Congress regulations. This rule prevents parliamentarians who are immersed in criminal proceedings from integrating the three commissions of Ethics, Oversight and Constitutional Accusations. The President of the Parliament, Lady Camones (APP), will have to make a decision on the issue this Monday.
