Congress: Popular Renewal presents a motion to question Foreign Minister César Landa

The bench of presented a against the Minister of Foreign Affairs, César Landa, for the statements made by President Pedro Castillo before the United Nations Organization (UN).

The document indicates that the head of state “It has revealed the lack of an international policy in favor of the interests of Peru, as a result of a speech in which the lack of preparation of those who currently have the responsibility of directing foreign policy has been evidenced”.

Likewise, it points out that Castillo Terrones, with his speech “little technical and highly ideological” he has “seriously damaged foreign policy and the good image of Peru”since their proposals have not only been “untimely and inconvenient”otherwise “absolutely negative to the interests of the country”.

“His speech, inconsistent with the tradition of Torre Tagle, has served to project a negative image in the system of civilized nations, since the only thing that can be inferred from the presidential speech is that Peru is a country where you cannot invest. ; a place where conventions and agreements are not respected and where corruption and legal insecurity prevail”he emphasizes.

The motion – which consists of a sheet of 31 questions– also assures that Pedro Castillo “has weakened” Peru’s relations with Russia, Israel, UK and Morocco.

In this regard, Landa Arroyo spoke about the interpellation motion and said that although he had already gone to the Foreign Relations Commission of that state power, he will answer it “as it matches”in order to clarify the country’s foreign policy.

“The interpellation will have to be answered accordingly, an acknowledgment that belongs to Congress to be able to explain more precisely, even though two weeks ago I went to the Foreign Relations Committee of Congress to explain the grounds, because based on the new questions that formulate, clarify what is a multilateral, independent foreign policy and within the framework of the universal values ​​of respect for the rule of law and democracy not only in Peru, but also in the universe”he stated.

The Foreign Minister spoke on the subject after participating in the meeting between Castillo Terrones and the Secretary of State of the United States of America, Anthony Blinkenwithin the framework of the 52nd General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS) that takes place from October 5 to 7 in Lima.

It should be noted that on September 26, Landa Arroyo went to the Foreign Relations Commission of the Legislative Power to respond to the questions in President Pedro Castillo’s speech before the UN.

In the session, the head of Torres Tagle ratified the historical position that recognizes Argentine sovereignty over the Malvinas Islands and reaffirmed diplomatic relations with the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic.
