Congress: Permanent nature of distance learning in higher education approved

The Permanent Commission of Congress approved in a second vote the opinion of Bill 8056, which modifies Law 30220, the University Law, to establish the permanent nature of the distance learning modality of higher education and strengthen its access.

The opinion of Bill 8056 was approved on July 19 with 17 votes in favor, 6 against and 3 abstentions.

It should be noted that the approved text modifies articles 13 and 47 of Law 30220, and incorporates article 15-A into the same law.

The congressman Ezra Medina Minaya, Secretary of the Education, Youth and Sports Commission, was in charge of supporting the initiative, highlighting that the purpose of the project is to strengthen Access and quality of higher university education in Peru, through the implementation of permanent licensing for universities that demonstrate continued compliance with the basic quality conditions.

“Similarly, it is proposed the comprehensive regulation of the distance education modality, This approach seeks to provide stability and security to educational institutions and students by promoting a quality and accessible educational environment for all.”the legislator said.
