He Congress of the republic it would be a nest of excessive spending. To the millionaire disbursements —with money from all Peruvians— for iPhones, buffets and personal trips for the fathers of the country, the payment of S/315,000 is now added for the concept of remodeling carpets in five spaces of Parliament. An amount that leaves doubts about its real cost and about the company that won the contract, according to information revealed by the Sunday newspaper “Panorama”.

On November 25, 2022, a contract was signed for the acquisition of 1,600 square meters of sophisticated and expensive carpets for a remodeling in the Congress of the Republic. In the product descriptions, it was specified that the material should be of the 12 mm cut pile type, national cotton filter and 100% acrylic dralon. The amount to be paid was S/315,000.

“Panorama” consulted the prices with a national producer. This noted that, given the characteristics what is stipulated in the contract signed by Congress for the purchase of carpets, the total amount should be approximately S/134,000 and not a figure that exceeds S/300,000. “The amount that you are showing me, that is the budget that we manage,” said the merchant to the Sunday reporter.

The winning company of the contract is Kotlin Service SAC, which has its tax domicile on the avenue Heroes of Independence 4155, in San Juan de Lurigancho. However, andn the place there is no indication that a carpet distributor operates there, only a chicken shop. People in the area say that this type of material is not sold on that block.
