Congress of Peru approves luxuries for officials while in the streets they call for elections

The deputies of Peru have not finished giving a way out of the political crisis that the country is going through after the dismissal of Pedro Castillo, but they have approved expenses –and some incurred in acts of corruption– in favor of their labor benefits, such as the allocation of luxury phones with unlimited calls


On December 7, Peru entered a new political crisis. The removal of the former president Pedro Castillo and designation of Dina Boluarte as the highest authority of the Inca country, unleashed a series of protests and demonstrations, which for this February 20 add up to 69 failed and seven departments (Madre de Dios, Apurímac, Arequipa, Moquegua, Cuzco, Puno and Tacna) in a state of emergency.

One of the main demands of Peruvians is the advancement of presidential elections, another is the call for a constituent assembly. Four times the proposals have been rejected by the Peruvian Congress. “Our citizens promptly expect a clear response that will pave a way out of the political crisis and build social peace,” wrote Boluarte, after the first refusal.
