The Congress of the Republic made the legislative agenda official for the annual period of sessions 2024-2025 through Resolution No. 006-2024-2025-CR, published in the Official Gazette El Peruano on November 2 and It was approved in the Plenary session of October 30 with 65 votes in favor. The document was prepared in coordination with the parliamentary groups, the 24 ordinary commissions and the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM), establishing priority topics and a work structure for Parliament.
The agenda includes four main objectives: the strengthening of democracy and the rule of law, equity and social justice, competitiveness in the country, and an efficient, transparent and decentralized State. Besides, with 35 state policies and 106 bills, the document details the issues that Congress will prioritizesuch as reforms in citizen security, strengthening education and health, and modernizing the justice system.
This work plan does not limit the right of legislative initiative or prevent the debate of other issues not included in the agenda and allows the Executive to send urgent bills that, according to article 105 of the Constitution, must receive priority in Congress.
Finally, bills that are not debated during this period may be considered on the agenda of the following legislative year, ensuring the continuity of pending issues and long-term planning in parliamentary work.
What are the bills included on the agenda?
According to the document published in the official newspaper El Peruano, The table is divided into the four objectives: Democracy and rule of law, Equity and social justice, Competitiveness in the country and efficient, transparent and decentralized State.
