Congress gives green light to 2026 budget

This will be the presidential vacancy process in the bicameral Congress

Despite the controversies generated around the distribution, Congress, by majority, gave the green light to the budget public of 2026 which exceeds S/257,561 million.

During the support of the changes made, the president of the Budget Commission, Alejandro Soto, stated that among the modifications that were made is the inclusion of a bonus for justice workers with lower incomes, as well as for INPE personnel.

In addition, the progressive promotion of pending health personnel was established and a monthly allowance was approved for the members of the Special Intelligence Group (GEIN) of the National Police of Peru.

Something that was not referred to was the reduction in resources for subsidies from the Mivivienda Program, which would affect 30,000 families who would not be able to access their own property.

However, the Ministry of Education was authorized to make modifications to guarantee the granting of scholarships so that the young people who obtained said benefit can be fulfilled.

For his part, Premier Ernesto Álvarez welcomed the approval in Congress, however, he noted that said budget was proposed by Dina Boluarte’s management.

“This budget has been inherited. It was carried out by the previous government, however, the intense work of the ministers, congressmen and the budget commission has made it possible to incorporate modifications and changes. A budget is actually a program where policy is united through different approaches,” he indicated.
