Congress files complaints against former president Francisco Sagasti and former ministers

The Permanent Commission of Congress approved, by majority, the archiving of several constitutional complaints against the former president Francisco Sagastiformer Prime Minister Violeta Bermúdez, and former ministers Alfonso Chávarry, Dimitri Senmache, Óscar Ugarte, María Antonieta Alva and Jorge López Peña.

Complaint against Sagasti, Bermúdez and Ugarte

The accusation was presented on July 2, 2021 by the former congressman César Gonzales and included alleged irregularities in the purchase of rapid evidence during the government of Martín Vizcarra, the manipulation of figures who died by the pandemic and the lack of transparency in the acquisition of vaccines and masks.

Alfonso Chávarry case

In the case of former Interior Minister Alfonso Chávarry Estrada, Constitutional Complaint 437, made by the former Prosecutor of the Nation (I) Juan Carlos Villena, indicated it for alleged improper appointment for public office, by appointing Sergio Isaías Cruz Hilacondo as General Director of Internal Government despite the fact that he did not meet the minimum requirements established by law.

María Antonieta Alva Case

The former Minister of Economy and Finance, María Antonieta Alva, faced the constitutional complaint 103 (ex 454), presented by the former congressman possesscrowte chagua, for alleged crime of incompatible negotiation or improper use of the position.

Dimitri Senmache case

For his part, former Interior Minister Dimitri Senmache Artola was accused in constitutional complaint 276, promoted by congresswoman Patricia Chirinos, for alleged violation of article 39 of the Constitution.

According to the complaint, Senmache did not act with due diligence to avoid the escape of the former Minister of Transportation and Communications, Juan Silva Villegas.

Jorge López Peña Case

Finally, the constitutional complaint 449 against former health minister Jorge Antonio López Peña, for alleged aggravated illicit enrichment, was also archived.

The report concluded that there were no sufficient evidence or conviction elements that prove a conduct with criminal relevance.

In all cases, the reports recommended the archive when considering that the facts denounced were not subsumed in the criminal types indicated and lacked evidence.
