Through a Presidential Decree, the holder of the Congress of the republic, José Williams extended the legislature until next Friday, February 17. This is the second extension of the parliamentary period since the first expired precisely yesterday, Friday the 10th.
According to the issued rule, the expansion is carried out in accordance with what was stated by the Economy and Decentralization commissions, since, it points out, the request made by the Executive Branch must be debated and approved to be granted legislative powers.

This will only be possible if the political caucuses manage to reach a consensus and gather the 61 votes necessary for the Plenary’s agenda to be expanded. If so, it could include the reconsideration of the decision of the Constitution Commission to postpone the debate on the reduction of the presidential and congressional mandate.
