Congress: Ethics recommends suspending Enrique Wong for 120 days and submitting his case to the Accusations Subcommittee

The Ethics Commission recommended suspending legislator Enrique Wong (not grouped) for 120 days and submitting his case to the Subcommittee on Constitutional Accusations, for the alleged intervention he would have had for the appointment of his adviser Manuel Talavera Valdivia as president of the board of directors of the National Ports Company (Enapu).

The final report was approved by 8 votes in favor, 1 against and 6 abstentions. In this way, the case will be evaluated by the plenary session of Congress. If it is approved, the legislator will not receive his remuneration for the duration of the sanction.

Wong Pujada was present during the session and took the floor to give his defenses prior to the vote, but he was unable to dissuade his colleagues, who overwhelmingly voted in favor of imposing the maximum sanction that the Ethics Commission can impose. .

In statements to the press after the session, the president of the Ethics Commission, Karol Paredes, rejected the criticism made by Wong towards the technical team of the work group.
